Gerlinde Picard, age 79, of L’Anse, MI passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. She was born in Berlin, Germany on August 24, 1941 the daughter of the late Warren Kliengies and Ella Bleich. Gerlinde graduated from high school in Germany. She married Louis Picard, Sr. in Waukegan, IL on January 4, 1960. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2001. Gerlinde had worked in housekeeping at the Ojibwa Casino. She was a member of the Catholic faith and attended Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a former member of the L’Anse VFW #3897, L’Anse Eagles #2287 and the Ojibwa Senior Citizens, Baraga. Gerlinde enjoyed puzzles, being outside, berry picking, making quilts and volunteering. She loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Gerlinde is survived by her loving daughters Gerlinde Karen Curtis of Baraga, Lori Picard (Allen Decota) of L’Anse, Sharon (John) Misegan of Marquette and Rose (Mike) Everson of L’Anse, 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her good friend Tom Krugër. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Louis Picard, Jr, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Assinins with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Graveside services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in the Evergreen Cemetery, L’Anse.
