Gerald R. Ollanketo Sr. 75, a resident of Calumet passed away on Thursday January 3, 2019 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 10, 2019 at the Lake View Cemetery in the Veterans Section.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family.
Gerald R. Ollanketo Sr. 75, a resident of Calumet passed away on Thursday January 3, 2019 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on July 22, 1943, in Hancock to Isaac and Mildred (Hendrickson) Ollanketo.
He attended the local schools. He then moved with his family downstate, where he graduated from Ferndale High School in 1962.
After high school, Gerald enlisted with the United States Army, serving in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1967 as a Staff Sergeant.
Gerald was a lifetime member of the William Giroux American Legion Post 90 in Lake Linden, a lifetime member of the 30 Armored Division, and a member of the Knights of Columbus 1245 of Calumet.
He is survived by:

His daughters: Heidi of Baltic
Holly of Atlantic Mine
Heather of Chassell
Karen Ollanketo of Germany
17 grandchildren
and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Per Gerald’s request, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery.
