Obituary: Gerald “Jerry” Fountaine

Lake Linden: Gerald “Jerry” Fountaine, 71, of Lake Linden, passed away on March 23, 2023.

He was born April 24, 1951, a son of Earl and Elverna (Anderson) Fountaine.  He attended Saint Cecilia School in Hubbell and Dollar Bay High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and earned his GED.  He served as a cook onboard the USS San Bernardino.  He returned to the Copper Country and worked at Thurner’s Bakery for 36 years, and later at Michigan Tech until his retirement.

He had been a member of the American Legion in Lake Linden and the VFW in Hubbell.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and berry picking.  He was a master deer bait collector.

He was preceded in death by: a son-Adam, his parents, a brother-Earl, a sister-Linda Lawless, brother-in-law-Tim Puuri, and 2 nieces-Amanda Puuri and Shirley Dulong.

He is survived by: 3 children-Jennifer (Jim) Peterson of Hancock, Andy (Stephanie) Fountaine of Waunakee, WI, and April (Spencer) Hewitt of Marinette, WI; grandchildren-Megan, Natalie, Ben, Michael, Anastasia, Genevieve, Ciri, and Alaric; longtime girlfriend-Pam, 2 brothers-Edward “Burt” (Debbie) and Ronald (Lynda); a sister-Shelly Puuri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 There will be no public services.  The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Copper Ingot VFW Post #4624 of Hubbell.
