Gerald “Jake” Anderson, 79, a resident of Eagle Harbor passed away on September 18, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care in Holly, MI.
He was born on April 2, 1945 in Anchorage, Alaska to George and Ellen (Eckstrom) Anderson.
As a young child his family relocated to Copper Harbor, MI where he lived until his mid-teens.
He then moved to the Flint area where he worked as a skilled tradesman for General Motors for 30 years. While there, he met his wife Laura Labod and they were married on August 27th, 1966.
Upon retirement from GM, he returned to Copper Harbor where he owned A-Superior Dive Shop, 7th Street Station, Bear Den Cabin and Jake’s Sled Rescue, was also a member of the Eagle Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, and former President of the U.P. White Tails of Keweenaw County. He loved to hunt, fish, trap and find and collect agates.
Surviving are: 3 daughters: Shelly Anderson (Robert) of Flint, MI, Shari Anderson-Fox (Mike) of Otisville, MI and Shawni Anderson (Rick) of Flushing, MI
Grandchildren: Jake (Heather) Breanna, Cheyenne, Brendan (Miranda), Sierra, Noah and Seth.
6 Great Grandchildren: Brody, Leilah, Hudson, Elliana, Liam and Ezmarae.
Preceding him in death is his wife Laura and parents George and Ellen Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with George Newman to officiate.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Copper Harbor Cemetery.
