Pelkie: Gerald J. Heikkinen, age 72, of Askel Hill, Pelkie, MI passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was born in Hancock, MI on October 29, 1946 the son of the late Andrew and Ruth (Blum) Heikkinen. Gerald graduated in 1965 from Doelle High School in Tapiola. He had been employed by the Pettibone Corp as a service department mechanic and retired from there after 191/2 years. He then worked at the former Celotex Corp as a floor laborer and retired after 15 years. He enjoyed anything outdoors, fishing, hunting, making firewood, woodworking and had made many clocks.
Mr. Heikkinen is survived by his son Kevin Heikkinen of Mass City, MI, daughter Elizabeth (Oscar) Heikkinen of Askel Hill, Pelkie, granddaughter Amber Kaylee Heikkinen of Baraga, great grandchild Kristian Levi Swartz, brothers Thomas (Jan) of Chassell, Mike (Elma) of Elo, sister Mary Ellen (Alan) of Elo, special friend Jeanette Murtomaki and his dogs Tippy and Smokey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Larry Dean, Ralph James and Andrew Wayne.
No funeral services are scheduled per Mr. Heikkinen’s request.
