Obituary: Frederick P. Hannon

Frederick P. Hannon, 85, of Hancock, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Portage Pointe in Hancock.

Fred was born on March 7, 1938 in Houghton to the late Frederick C. and Leona (Orella) Hannon. Following high school graduation from Houghton High School, he began his working career at Santori Brothers Deep Rock gas station and tire shop in Hancock before his employment for much of life at Michigan Tech University until his retirement. Fred married Rosalie Santori of Hancock and they were married for 63 years.

Fred loved to follow his four boys and grandchildren in all their sports and extracurricular activities. He looked forward to spending time at the family camp in the summers and wintering in Arizona to be with family. He enjoyed pasties and a HALF CUP of coffee.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Leona (Giles) Kiefer. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Hannon of Hancock; sons Mark (Linda) Hannon of Houghton, Jay (Lori) Hannon of Chandler, AZ, David Hannon of Hancock, and Josh (Shannon) Hannon of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Jeremey (Jessica) Hannon of Honolulu, HI, Jessie (Nick) Manderfield of Houghton, Michael (Jill) Hannon of Hancock, Jennifer (Stephen) Butina of Weston, WI, and Taylor Hannon, Bo Hannon, Abby Hannon, Brady Hannon, and Gracey Hannon, all of Chandler, AZ; great grandchildren Ronan, Eero, Tanner, and Easton Hannon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Reverend Father John Martignon to officiate. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. There will be no public visitation.

His family would like to thank the staff at Garden View and Portage Pointe for the care given to Fred.
