Obituary: Fred Harma

     Fred Harma, 66, a former South Range Businessman passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wi, following a short illness.

      He was born on January 24, 1956, in Detroit, MI, a son of the late John and Helen (Ranta) Harma.  As a child, Fred’s family moved to make their home in Obenhoff.  Fred attended the Houghton Schools.

     Following school, Mr. Harma began a career working as a mechanic for Klee’s Gas Station in Houghton.  He then was able to own and operate Fred Auto Repair in South Range for 37 years retiring in 2020.

     Mr. Harma was a member of Hope Fellowship Church in Houghton.  He enjoyed working on cars in his retirement and helping plow snow for his neighbors and tinkering with different projects.

      Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers: Jerry and Jim and his sister Delores Johnson.

     Surviving are:

            His children: Clayton Harma of Greenville, WI, Stacey Harma of Fort Wayne, IN, Ashley (Javi) Nuno of Traverse City, MI, Megan Harma of East Lansing, MI; 9 grandchildren; His brother: David Harma a resident of the Canal View – Houghton County; A special niece: Penny Harma of Baltic; Several nieces, nephews and cousins

     A funeral service for Fred will be held 1:00 pm Friday, January 6, 2023, at Hope Fellowship Church of Houghton with Pastor Jon Kangas to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.

      Friends may call on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 11:00 am until time of services at Hope Fellowship Church of Houghton.
