Obituary: Francis Cuff

As received from the Pearce Funeral Home:

Francis “Frank” Robert Cuff, well known area business owner and funeral director, passed away at Canal View-Houghton County, surrounded by friends and loved ones on February 25, 2022.
He was born on March 14, 1936 in Chicago a son of Francis Cuff and Margaret Anne (Shea) Cuff.  He graduated Hancock High School in 1954.
He proudly served for two years in the U.S. Navy beginning in 1956.  He served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard Aircraft Carrier and ports of call included Japan, the Philippines, Okinawa, and Hong Kong.
Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Martha Louise Lombardi on July 11, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church in Calumet.
After working for his father for a few years, Frank started his own Livery Service in the mid 1960’s.  In 1975 he moved his family to Lake Linden.  In 1976 he attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, travelling home every weekend to be with his family.  In 1977 he graduated to started his career as the Funeral Director and owner of Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.
Frank’s tenure as a Funeral Director allowed him to positively impact many people’s lives and he become a valued member of the community.  Frank retired in 2001.
To everyone’s surprise, he and Martha purchased a motor home in 1998 and began their 22 year journey through retirement together.  They circled the Great Lakes, made two long trips to Alaska, enjoyed winters in Georgia, and most importantly travelled regularly to visit children and grandchildren.  Frank often said that the second best decision he ever made was to purchase a motor home.  He would proudly follow this by stating his best decision was marrying the love of his life, Martha.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, motor-homing, and rock collecting.
Frank served as a volunteer fireman on the Hancock Fire Department.  He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elk’s club.  Frank was a member of American Legion Post 90 in Lake Linden and a member of St. Joseph’s church.
