ATLANTIC MINE
Floyd D. LaRue. 90, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at home in Atlantic Mine with family present.
He was born in Chassell to Louis and Eileen (Tahtinen) LaRue on March 6, 1928.
Floyd was employed for 63 years at White Pine Copper Company (Assay Lab). After retirement, he transported cars for Copper Country Ford and other dealers for 20 years.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and grandson, Jesse Optenberg.
Surviving are his wife, Mae of 69 years; children, Sandra (Lance) Optenberg, Denise (Michael) Connell, Steve LaRue, Rick (Freda) LaRue, and Judy LaRue (Mike Fik); grandchildren, Ian (Sharyn) Optenberg, Melissa (Ed) Fredricks, Brian (Jillian) LaRue, Sara LaRue, Chad LaRue, Will, Ryan and Emilee Blanchard, Evan Deppen; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Olivia LaRue; sister-in-law, Carole Tervo; brother-in-law, David Kaiponen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Mountain View Mortuary of South Range, Antila Funeral Service, Inc. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at antilafuneral.com.
