Tapiola/Dollar Bay
Florence M. Hill, 90, a former resident of Tapiola and Dollar Bay, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe where she had been a resident patient for over the past two years.
She was born on January 25, 1929, in Chassell, a daughter of the late John and Viola (Walstrom) Lindstrom. Florence was a graduate of the Chassell Schools.
In October of 1947, she was united in marriage to Alvin Hill. The couple moved to Tapiola where they owned and operated a farm and raised their four sons. In 2002 the couple moved to make their home in Dollar Bay and in September of 2003, Alvin preceded her in death.
Along with helping run the family farm Florence had worked as a Nurse’s Aide for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Portage View Hospital. Mrs. Hill was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dollar where she was active with the Quilting group. She also was an active life member of F.O.E. Aerie #1122 of South Range for many years. Florence enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers, baking and cooking for her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and her sister Dorothy Boatman.

A memorial service for Florence will be held 12 noon Friday, April 26, 2019, at the First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay with Vicar Micah Cavaleri to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Elo Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, April 26, 219, from 10:30 am until time of services at First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay.
