Obituary: Eugenia Grace “Heppy” Koski

As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:

UPDATE: A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Pastor Caleb Maunu to officiate. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Eugenia Grace “Heppy” Koski, 91, passed away on October 2, 2023, at Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident for the past 6 years.

She was born on August 27, 1932, the fourth daughter of Albin J. and Tyne (Rintala) Stein. She grew up in Hancock and graduated from the Hancock High School. On June 13, 1953, she married Paul A. Koski. Their early married years were on Bunker Hill (Mason) and later in Bootjack (Lake Linden). They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2003. Sadly, Paul passed away after 56 years of marriage.

Heppy enjoyed having friends and family stop by for coffee and a chat. She ALWAYS had her coffee pot on… just in case.

She loved dogs and had many throughout the years. She will be remembered as a kindhearted and gentle person who always took the time to invite people into her home.

Heppy is survived by her 2 daughters; Deanna (Kevin) Olsen of Watertown, South Dakota

                                                            Paula Isakson of Chassell

7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Carol LeMay of Houghton, and sister-in-law Carolyn Koski of Hubbell along with numerous nieces, nephews, along with other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Gloria, Barbara, and Dolores, and a brother Eugene.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to Portage Pointe for the great care and friendships she enjoyed in her last years as she roamed the halls.

A memorial service for Heppy will take place at a later date.
