Ethel A. Brunet, age 80, of L’Anse, MI passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Bayside Village, L’Anse with her loving family by her side. She was born in Calumet, MI on May 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Percy and Anna (St Amour) Roberts. Ethel attended school in Calumet. She married the love of her life, Donald E. “Donnie” Brunet, Sr. on August 4, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hancock, MI. Donnie preceded her in death on November 11, 2009. Ethel had been employed as a waitress at the Hilltop Restaurant, L’Anse for 39 years and retired in May of 2009. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, the L’Anse American Legion Post 144 Ladies Auxiliary until it disbanded and a lifetime member of the Baraga American Legion Post 444 Ladies Auxiliary. Ethel enjoyed reading, watching Wheel of Fortune and loved spending time with her grandchildren and participating in their activities. She loved to dance and could be found Polkaing at the South Range Eagles Club every Sunday.
Ethel is survived by her loving family; daughters Debbie (Tom) Lindgren, Cindy (Tom) Roy and son Donald (Lori) Brunet Jr. all of L’Anse, grandchildren Tina (George) Lahti, Jason (Angie) Lindgren, Andrew Lindgren, Stephanie Baril, Ben Roy, Justin Roy, Rebeca Dove, Steven Brunet (Kelli) and Daniel (Gabby) Brunet, great grandchildren Trystan and Kolby Lahti, Brenden, Anna, Carter and Brady Lindgren, Maya, Ellise, Emily and Landen Dove, Katie LaBeau, David, Arionna and Ella Roy, Cambreigh Rose Brunet and Hailey Grace LaTendresse and brother Fred (Janet) Roberts of Aura, MI. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. The family will greet friends at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 6 pm until 8 pm and at church on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the Mass. Casket bearers will be Ethel’s grandsons, Jason, Andrew, Benjamin, Justin, Steven and Daniel.
Immediately following the Mass, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the church hall.
Spring interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
