Lake Linden: Elizabeth LePage, 91, of Lake Linden, passed away on October 20, 2018, at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born on June 13th, 1927, in Detroit, MI, where her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Goodfriend had recently relocated from Ontario Canada. She has one younger brother, Tom, and one younger sister, Marlene.
Betty was married to Ralph LePage June 19th, 1948, and her love and faithfulness to him was constant. She was his wife, best friend, and greatest support until he passed away after 53 years of marriage. She loved the outdoors, and her walks with Ralph were a highlight of her day, picking thimble berries together, and making jam.
Her love and faith in God was seen through how she loved His church and her family. The most important thing to her was that her children would also love and put their faith in God.
Betty volunteered at school (teaching catechism, working in the high school library, etc), and helped home educate grandchildren. She loved being involved at Church, singing, and reading scriptures as a member of Saint Joseph parish in Lake Linden. Father Francis once nominated Betty as “person of the year” in the church for the Diocese of Marquette.
She actively supported many organizations that provided for the poor and needy.
Betty had been a resident at the Lighthouse at Hubbell where the staff and volunteers did an absolutely wonderful job taking care of her during her last year and a half.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, a granddaughter-Jenna, and a very special friend-Loretta Fritz.
