Obituary: Elizabeth A. ”Betty” Holso

Elizabeth A. ”Betty” Holso, 91, of L’Anse passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Bayside Village in L’Anse where she had been a resident for 11 months. She was born on May 17, 1927 in Baraga to Telesphore and Amelia (Sirard) LaJoye. She was raised in Baraga and graduated from Baraga High School in 1945. She married Lauri (Junior) Holso on November 8, 1947 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Baraga. They made their home in Aura for almost 45 years. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1992. On August 27, 1994 she married Donald Holso at Sacred Heart Church in L’Anse. She worked at Baraga County Memorial Hospital as a nurse aid from 1966 to 1987. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch and coloring. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and the Aura Fire Department Auxiliary.

Surviving is her husband Don Holso of L’Anse, her daughter Janet (Fred) Roberts of Aura, grandchildren Michael (Cindy) Roberts and Angie (Michael) Mayo of Aura, great grandchildren Christopher Mayo of Aura, Brianna (Cason) Ansell of Negaunee and Dylan and Jeffrey Roberts of Aura, step daughter Charlene (Ted) Larsen of Shawno Wisconsin, step daughter-in-law Christine Holso of Paris, TX, step grandchildren Christopher (Sangeetha) Larsen and their children Jaya and Asha of Plymouth, MN, Nick (Krissy) Larsen and their children Kaylin and Brecken of Waconia, MN, Bryana (Del) Martin and their daughter Adalyn of Green Bay, WI, Danielle Holso of St. Paul, MN, Carly Holso of Austin, TX and Jenny Holso of Oshkosh, WI and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Lauri, sisters Laura, Emaline and Jean, brothers Melvin, Louis and Charles and sisters-in-law Julia Holso and Marie Klatt, step son Donald J. Holso and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the fmaily invites friends to join them for fellowship and a lunchoen at the Aura Fire Hall, Aura, MI.

Interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery.

The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, MI has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
