Elizabeth A. “Bettty” Haataja Kokko Holzman, age 92 of L’Anse, MI passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. She was born in Hancock, MI on March 1, 1928 the daughter of the late Alfred and Olga (Sillanpaa) Haataja. Betty attended school at John A. Doelle School in Tapiola, MI. She was employed by BHK as a cook until her retirement. Betty was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Baraga. She enjoyed gardening flowers, traveling, knitting and crocheting.
Betty is survived by her loving children Doris (John) Mayo of L’Anse, and Pauline (Frank) Peters of Georgia, son-in-law Bob Coen of L’Anse and daughter-in-law Norma Kokko of Baraga, grandchildren Cynthia (Brian) Olson, Jimi Kokko, Wendy Darcy, T.J. Darcy, Mike Selden and Dale Selden, 7 great grandchildren, especially Kayla Harden who took such good care of her great grandma, 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters Jean (Ray) Juntunen, Elma (Mike) Heikkinen, brothers Louie (Judy) Haataja, Severi (June) Haataja and Leslie Haataja. She was preceded in death by 4 husbands, her daughter Rose Ann Coen, son James Kokko and 3 great grandsons.
There will be no funeral service due to the Covid-19 Virus.
Spring interment will take place in the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery.
