Eleanore (Johns) Keranen quietly passed away Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born December 12, 1928 in Franklin Township, the daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Odgers) Johns.
Eleanore was a graduate of Hancock High School and was married shortly after to Uno Keranen, where they celebrated 69 years of marriage.
She enjoyed knitting sweaters and baby blankets for her loved ones, making pasties, baking for all her friends and relatives, along with an occasional jaunt to the casino. She was especially famous for her peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.
Besides her husband, Eleanore was preceded in death by her son Scott Keranen and his wife, Charla.
She is survived by two daughters, Patti (Vern) Perfetti of Chassell, Sandy (Gordy) Grindey of Naples, Fl. and her sister, Dorothy Henning of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Sara Perfetti of Sault Ste Marie, Jodi (Randy) Beauchamp of Oregon, Justin (Jenna) Perfetti stationed in Germany, Emily Perfetti of Calumet, Analissa (Mike) White of West Virginia, Sabrina (Jacob) Kolodzie of West Virginia, seven great-grandchildren and various nieces and a nephew.
At Eleanore’s request, celebration of her life will be a private family gathering.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the Omega House, 2211 Maureen Lane, Houghton, MI 49931 in the name of Eleanore Keranen.
