Eleanor “Elly” (Curto) Gasparovich 84, of Lake Linden passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Omega House in Houghton, after battling dementia and other health I ssues. She was in Calumet on July 5, 1938, a daughter of Peter and Nettie Curto and graduated from Calumet High School class of 1956. After graduation Elly worked for Armstrong-Thielman Lumber Company for six years as a bookkeeper. She then went to work for the Woolworth Store in Calumet for thirty-three years, thirty as store manager, until they closed. She then went to work for Quality Hardware in Lake Linden as an assistant manager for eight years until her retirement. Elly was a member of the Daughters of Italy, was a volunteer for Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and also for the SHARE program. She was also a member Croatian Fraternal Union for fifty years. She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Calumet. She had a love for hunting, fishing, riding on her boat, snowmobiling, agate picking, berry picking and especially enjoyed her camp in Lac La Belle for many years especially taking pleasure in watching the ore boats when they came in and all the beautiful sunsets. Elly had a special love for dogs, owning many through her lifetime. She loved feeding and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds. She enjoyed the time spent playing cards and board games with her friends and trips to the casino. One of her favorite pastimes was building puzzles, she always had one going. She was very proud of her military family, her father, four brothers, and a sister that all returned home safely. Elly was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James, John, Norman and Andrew; and sisters Eunice, Marion, Mary and Carol. She is survived by her nephew Peter Curto (Cheryl Stevens) of Lake Linden whom she always considered to be a son to her; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to of all her great friends who always took time to ask about her, calling her and all their visits to see her. Thank you to the Omega House for the wonderful care that was given while she was there. Graveside interment is planned for Lake View Cemetery.
