As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:
Elaine Pavolich passed on to the arms or her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday November 15, 2024, at Portage Pointe, where she resided for the past few years. Born on January 14, 1931, she was 93 years old.
Elaine will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She had a work ethic that was beyond the pale. She was a CNA in her younger years, becoming the Purchasing Director at Calumet Public Hospital where she spent most of her career. Upon retiring, she still worked as a home caretaker well into her seventies.
Elaine was preceded in death by her first husband, W. Francis Maronen and the father of her four children. Also preceded in death by her husband of many years, Rudy Pavolich and her beloved son, DuWayne Maronen.
She is survived by her sons Greg (Denise) Maronen, Larry (Judy) Maronen, her Grandchildren Amber (Bruce) Washburn, Molly Maronen, Lori Hendra and Chris (Tina) Hendra. She is also survived by her six Great Grandchildren, Hannah Hendra, Lane and Collin Washburn, Liam and Brody DeBeaubien and Brooks Maronen. She has several nieces and nephews.
She also carried a special love for Deacon Jeremiah Mason who was like another son to her. In her final days, she loved when she could see a video of Dion Paquette, talking to her about her work and his love and respect for her. It was shown to her at every visit by her daughter-in-law, Denise, even up until her dying day. (She always said “Dion was the best hospital CEO ever!)
Special thanks to Father Gracious Pulimoottil, his visits meant the world. Blessings and thanks to the staff at Portage Pointe for their special care and love, especially Erin and Melissa. Thanks also to Dr. Bonnie Hafeman, who was her physician for years.
Per Elaine’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held with Father Gracious to officiate. In Lieu of flowers, condolences can be sent to Little Brothers of the Elderly in Hancock or St. Paul the Apostle church in Calumet for fuel to help with heating costs. Elaine loved to be warm.
