Elaine S. LaFernier, 75, a resident of Hancock passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
She was born on January 3, 1946, in Askel, MI, a daughter of the late Waino and Hilma (Moilanen) Juntunen. Elaine was raised in Askel and was a graduate of the John A. Doelle High School.
She was a veteran having served with the United States Army. During that time she enjoyed traveling and was proud to have met Elvis Presley.
Following the service, Elaine returned to make her home in the Copper Country while raising her children. For the past ten years, she has made her home at Lakeview Manor in Hancock.
Ms. LaFerinier enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting and sewing. She also volunteered with many organizations over the years such as the Zion Lutheran Church fundraiser at the Houghton County fair.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers Richard, Paul, Ferinand, Clifford, and Kenny and her sisters: Helen Sleeman and Marie Zerbst; and her nephew Alex Juntunen.

A graveside service for Elaine will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Karki Hill Cemetery Cemetery.
