Edwin G. Rajaniemi 83, of Calumet passed away on Thursday, December 30th, 2021 surrounded by his family, at the home of his daughter Sue. He was born on December 16, 1938 on the family farm in Traprock, the son of George and Selma (Savola) Rajaniemi. He attended the Copper City School and Calumet High School. He married the former Evelyn Paavola on April 18, 1964 and resided in Swedetown. They were married 49 ½ years. Edwin worked in the mines and later for Bancroft Dairy. He later worked at the Calumet Golf Course for many years until retirement. He loved creating works of copper art replicas of copper mines. One of which is on display at Quincy’s Restaurant. He had many other amazing creations and loved playing guitar with family and friends, especially his cousin Willie Luukkanen. He also enjoyed spending time and doing things with grandchildren, going to the casino, making a few trips to Nashville, Tenn and a few other places. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn, two sisters, Margaret Yowell , Verna Roth and brother-in-law James Roth. He will sadly be missed by his two daughters, Sue (Vernon) Kreivi, and Cindy Rajaniemi and brother-in-law Arvid Paavola. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces nephews and friends. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022 at the family farm in Trap Rock Valley.
