Edwin R. “Eppie” Maki, 88, a resident of Elo, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Bayside Village in L’Anse.
Edwin was born on December 29, 1935, in Elo, son of the late Leonard and Sophie (Autio) Maki. He was raised in Elo and graduated from the John A. Doelle School with the class of 1954.
Following school, Eppie worked in the woods clearing timber for powerlines before beginning his 35 ½ year career with Celotex in L’Anse.
Eppie was a member of the Tapiola Apostolic Lutheran Church, Doelle Senior Citizen Center, Elo Cemetery Association and the Otter Lake Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Eleanor Dakko and Ethel Haka and his brothers, Leonard, Clarence and Gerald.
Eppie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service for Edwin will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home – Mt View Chapel in South Range with Pastor Dave Hoskins to officiate. Burial will take place in the Elo Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 17, from 10am until the time of services at the funeral home.
