Obituary: Edward J. “Ed” Jorgenson

Edward J. “Ed” Jorgenson, age 48 of L’Anse, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. He was born in L’Anse on September 5, 1974 the son of John H. and Andrea G. (Erickson) Jorgenson. Ed graduated from L’Anse High school in 1992. He had been employed with Connor Sawmill, Cleary Asbestos Removal, Yalmer Mattila Construction, Village of L’Anse and currently was employed with Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. Ed was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the L’Anse Fire Department. He enjoyed playing hockey, hunting, fishing, and tinkering with many projects.

Ed is survived by his loving children J. Lyn Jorgenson (Thomas Mansfield III), Alana Jorgenson (Cole Smaka), and “bonus son” Landen Mattson, his mother Andrea G. Jorgenson , sister Andrea L. (Chuck) Cavanaugh, sister-in-law Sandy Jorgenson, niece Emily Jorgenson, and nephew Johnny Jorgenson, cousins Gale and Cathe, girlfriend Christy Jordan and his children’s mother, Kelly. He was preceded in death by his father, brothers John M. and Eric H. and uncles Roy and Alan.

The family will greet friends at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. The L’Anse Fire Department will conduct a service at 11:00 a.m., and funeral services, officiated by Pastor Kelly Ylitalo will be held at 11:30 a.m.

Spring interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
