Obituary: Edmund “Joey” Artibee

As received from the Ryan Funeral Home:

Edmund “Joey” Artibee, age 36, of Laurium, Upper Peninsula, MI, found eternal rest Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born in Marquette, MI on July 8, 1987; the son of Randy Sr. and Janice (Calkins) Artibee.

Joey graduated from Whitehall High School, and earned an Associate’s degree in Arts from Ferris State University. Joey was a hard worker, and a great leader. He had jobs in supply chain sales, logistics and beyond.

On June 10th, 2023, Joey married the love of his life, Anne Golus, and he adopted her dog, da Princess Nova Maki as well. We will cherish what he gave our little family forever. Joey could often be found enjoying the outdoors. From thimbleberries to mushrooms, he was a good forager. Joey loved bodies of water like rivers, and going to Lake Superior to rock hunt. We were fortunate to take many walks as a family, and even to see the spectacle of the Northern lights. Joey’s hobbies included: winning Cribbage games, disc golf, writing, reading, and fixing things. However, music was always his biggest passion, and we were all lucky enough to know and remember his talent through his many performances and projects with various groups across Michigan.

Edmund Joseph Artibee is survived by: his wife, Anne Artibee; his parents, Randy and Janice Artibee. His siblings are Troy (Amy), Alicia (Frank) Artibee-Gring, and Carrie (Jason) Zwart, and grandfather Bob (Alice) Artibee, and has many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He was always close to his family.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents Marion J. & Mary Alice Calkins, and Lana Lee Neirodzynski. A sister, Amanda Rae Artibee and his brother Randy Ray Artibee Jr.

His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church at 11 am on Sat., November 25th, 2023 (301 8th Street, Calumet, MI). There will be a graveside ceremony for family and close friends, with the burial taking place at Lakeview Cemetery. That will be followed by a Luncheon in St. Paul the Apostle Church’s lower level.
