Earl G. Nelson 79, a resident of Baltic, passed away Thursday January 3, 2019, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock following a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 13, 1939, in Baltic, MI, a son of the late Gunnar and Nancy (Kovala) Nelson. Earl was raised in Baltic and the Detroit area where he graduated High school from and then attended a local college for a short time.
Mr. Nelson had worked as a Hi-Lo operator for Detroit Diesel until his retirement. He then moved to make his home in Baltic.
In 1967, Earl was united in marriage to his true love Marilyn Olasz. In 1974, Marilyn lost a battle with diabetes and preceded Earl in death.
Mr. Nelson was a former member of the Moose Lodge while he resided in Lower Michigan.

Funeral services for Earl will be held 2:00 pm Friday January 11, 2019, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Soren Schmidt to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.
Friends may call on Friday January 11, 2019 from 12 noon until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
