Dorothy “Dolly” Marie Reilly, 83 a resident of Calumet, passed away at her home on March 6, 2021. She was born on May 16, 1937 in Laurium, a daughter of Stanley and Hilja (Korhonen) Richards. She attended Calumet Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1955. On June 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Reilly at the Sacred Heart Church. In her early years she worked at the Michigan Bell Telephone Company and for Woolworth. Her great accomplishment in life was being the best housewife, mother and grandmother. She and Bob raised six children in their Calumet home where they resided fifty years together, until Bob’s death in 2015. Dorothy was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in many community organizations throughout the years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand for church gatherings and enjoyed volunteering as a patient guide for Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and friends, reading, going for walks, garage sales, gardening and attending events for her children and grandchildren, and coffee socials. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband , son Christopher, son Robert, great-grandson Remi and brother Robert Richards.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children Shannon (Steve) Schreiber, Michael Reilly, Timothy (Kim) Reilly, and Terrence (Lori) Reilly, all of the Copper Country. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Jenny (Joe), Benjamin, Terrence Jr. (Crystal), Brooke (Craig), Chelsea, Alexander (Tia) , Reilly (Katherine), Ashley, Rheann, Kalob, and Mackenzie; nine great-grandchildren, Perrin, Allen, Kaiser, Jameson, Myles, Morgan, Tianna, Braylin, and Dawson. Her brother-in-law Joseph (Barbara) Reilly of Bootjack and sister-in-law Barbara Richards of Arizona also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends especially Shirley Doyle and Peggy Lanctot. Dorothy was a special woman with a heart of gold and will be missed by her family and friends. Private family funeral service will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate on Wednesday, March 10th at 11 a.m. Graveside service is scheduled for Saturday May 15th at the Lake View Cemetery.
