Obituary: Donald Paul “Duke” Archambeau

Donald Paul “Duke” Archambeau, 64, of Lake Linden, Michigan passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at U.P. Health System-Marquette.

He was born in Hancock on June 8, 1959 to Gordon Paul and Patricia Ann (Rose) Archambeau. After graduation from Houghton High School, he worked mostly as a butcher at Jim’s Foodmart in Houghton and later he became a supervisor for Warm Rain Corporation near the Houghton County airpark.

Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. His favorite place on earth was the camp at Misery Bay. He was a great father and loved his family more than anything. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. Also a dear friend, Mike Koski, a special cousin, Gary Kirkish, and his beloved best dog friend, Max.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Joe Lampela) Moilanen, a son, Eric Archambeau; grandchildren: Rylie, Jake, and Joe Archambeau and Wyatte and Abigail Moilanen; a sister, Linda (Bill) Hill and nephew William Hill; stepfather, Mike (Jean) Goudge; dear friends Dan Destrampe, Dave Koski, Jet Lucchesi, Mike Franttila, Barb Parker, his darling fur baby, Bella, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 6:30 P.M. with Rev. Father John Martignon to officiate. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Duke wanted a celebration of life at his camp which is being planned for a later time.
