Donald B. Froberg, age 81, of L’Anse, MI passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. He was born on August 23, 1942, the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Shippy) Froberg. Growing up in Keweenaw Bay, he attended Baraga schools. He enjoyed playing baseball (and eventually fast pitch softball).
He joined the Army National Guard where he was trained as a cook, reaching the rank of Sergeant.
Don spent the majority of his work career at Celotex in the shipping department from where he would eventually retire.
He spent many years coaching youth sports (Ice hockey and Baseball). From Mites to Bantams, little league to senior league, he gave his time to coach the local children. He was also part of the volunteer group that lent their time and sweat to help build Meadowbrook arena.
Don did enjoy the outdoors hunting, camping, and amateur geology/ metal detecting. The Baraga Plains held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by Erick (son), Bonnie (wife), Robert (brother), Irene and Delores (sisters), Eric Bailey and Christine Higdem (step children). He also held very dear Tori Hrubesky and Heather Tapani (Tikkanen) who he and Bonnie babysat for many years.
No funeral services are scheduled.
