Calumet–Dominic Zubiena, 90, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on December 25, 2018.
He was born in Raymbaultown on March 9, 1928, a son of John and Angeline (Cerretto) Zubiena. He attended the Calumet Public Schools and worked at the Vienna Bakery in Calumet. Dominic served in the US Army and worked as a Hoist Engineer for the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company for twenty years. He later was the Street Commissioner for the Village of Calumet until his retirement.
He loved to dance with his wife Josephine. He also loved walking his dog Toto and spending time with his special granddaughter Kylie. He is in heaven with Chrissie dancing the polka.
He is survived by his wife Josephine at home, children Julie Kent, Susan, and Joe Zubiena, Marsha (Marc) Johnson, Patrick (Lucy) Gibson, Sandy (Al) Rauvala and John (Dawn) Gibson.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law John (Sheila) Rastello and sister-in-law Maria Rastello. Sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline, daughter Chrissy, sisters Lucy Crouch, Tracy Cloutier, Mary Zubiena and Kate Aubin and a brother John “Tunney” Zubiena and son-in-law Nick Kent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 29th at 10:00a.m. at the St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home on Friday, December 28th from 4pm until 7pm. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00pm.
