As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:
Dennis Paskvan, 80 passed away peacefully in his sleep in Swartz, Creek Michigan on Nov 12, 2024. Dennis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is a man that will never be forgotten by those who knew him and loved him.
A Hancock native, Dennis “Denny” Paskvan was born on December 10th, 1943. He attended Redridge School and then Houghton High School. Dennis was an entrepreneur at heart. At 17, he started in the auto business. It grew from a Mobil Gas Station on Shelden and grew into Denny’s Sales & Service ( now Copper Country Ford), selling Saabs and Lincolns. Dennis was also the man to call when you needed a wrecker 24/7 and worked with the Sheriff during accidents and rescues. Dennis later moved to the Flint area where he started another dealership, which he owned and operated, retiring in his late 60’s with COPD.
On December 9, 1989 Dennis married his soulmate, Barbara Lawrence. Together they shared 37 years together. The family blended together perfectly. Dennis brought 2 kids to the marriage and so did Barbara. He introduced her to the Copper Country where they visited every summer until he couldn’t travel any longer.
Dennis loved the guitar and could play flawlessly by simply hearing or humming a line. He would sit and play for hours after work and could steal the room when he would pick up and play that guitar. Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash were his favorites but could play anything he heard and truly had a gift. It was a beautiful thing to see him play.
The Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines lost a diehard fan this week.
Dennis was a man of his word and loved us all. For that, we will love and
miss him forever.
