Dennis O. Connor, age 83 of L’Anse, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in L’Anse on April 12, 1940 the son of the late William and Esther (Dahlstrom) Connor. Dennis attended school in L’Anse. He joined the United States Army in 1959 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1961. Dennis had been employed with the former Celotex Corp in L’Anse until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and the L’Anse American Legion Post #144. Dennis enjoyed hunting, playing cribbage, watching the Detroit Lions and Tigers and attending local high school basketball games.
Dennis is survived by his loving children Margie (Jesse) VanHaecke of L’Anse, Bill (Tina) Connor of L’Anse, Vicky (Brian) Carlson of Norway, MI, D.J. Connor (Callie Darcy) of L’Anse, and Dawn Connor of Ann Arbor, MI, grandchildren April (Justin) Kuopus, Jessica (Andy) Paquet, Danielle Connor, Fabian (Ashley) Kristo, Kylee Kristo (Kenny Majeski), Ryan Connor, Matthew (Elena) Carlson, Nicholas Carlson, Alex Carlson, Alexis Mills, Sydney Horn, and Jillian Mills, several great grandchildren, sisters Carol Froberg and Darliene Smith both of L’Anse. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Sullivan, Bernadette Hautanen, and Patricia Kemppainen, brothers Father William Connor, infant brother Robert Henry, Donald “Type” Connor, and grandson Justin Connor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Immediately following mass, military honors and graveside services will be held in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at church following the interment.
