Dennis C. Snell, 72, a resident of Alston, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Omega House in Houghton following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 19, 1950, in Deadwood, South Dakota, a son of the late Ardell and Vera (Kaurala) Snell. Dennis was raised in Baltic and attended the Jeffers Schools.
Mr. Snell was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Following the service, Dennis had resided in the Copper County and Detroit before moving to make his home in Alston for the past 10 years. He enjoyed collecting coins, metal detecting, going for car rides to visit family and friends, trips to Agate Beach, hunting and fishing. Along with trips to the Ojibwa Casino.
Dennis was a man of many talents and had worked for many people over the years such as Bell Tire in the Detroit area, had been a welder in the Baraga area and worked for Penegor Lumber in Twin Lakes.
Preceding him in death were his daughter Sheila Ann Snell, his parents, his brothers and sisters Dale, Delbert, Kristine, and Shirley.

A memorial service and military honors for Dennis will be held later this spring. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.
Dennis’ family would like to thank the staff of Baraga County Memorial Hospital and the Omega House for the care given to him during his stay’s, along with his second family the staff at the Ojibwa Casino for looking after Dennis and always being able to give him a helping hand when needed.
