Denise Lynn Kinnunen, 59, a resident of Atlantic Mine passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side Wednesday December 16, 2020, following a lengthy illness.
Denise was born on December 25, 1960, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of James and Noreen (Ruotanen) Laho. She was raised in Redford and Farmington Hills, MI and was a graduate of Farmington North High School.
On March 29, 1980, she was united in marriage to Daniel Kinnunen. The couple had resided in Wixom, MI until moving to make their home in Atlantic Mine, MI where they raised their five children.
Denise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a gifted artist and singer. When her children were in school, she worked for a time at Northwoods Trading Post. In later years she worked from home for LumaSense Inc. Denise was happiest when she was camping, fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Denise was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Atlantic Mine.
Preceding her in death was her mother-in-law Helen Kinnunen.

A funeral service for Denise will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday December 19, 2020, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with David Taivalkoski to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton from 4 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until time of service at the church.
