Obituary: Debbie “Flippen” Buschell

Lake Linden: Debbie “Flippen” Buschell, 61, of Lake Linden, passed away at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital on November 13, 2020, after a heart attack. 

Debbie was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 31, 1959, a daughter of Wallace and Cynda Rider.  She attended CMR High School in Great Falls, Montana. 

She worked, locally, as a pharmacy technician at Leo’s in Laurium and Lake’s Pharmacy in Lake Linden. 

Debbie was married to Tim Buschell on September 16, 1978 in Great Falls, MT.  She was by her husband’s side as they moved to various Air Force bases around the world.   

Her family, especially her kids and grandkids were her whole life.  Anytime the grandkids called, “Oma’s Taxi” was available for them.  Debbie touched the lives of people all around the world. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents, and a brother-Dale. 

She is survived by: her husband-Tim of Lake Linden; 2 children-April (Scott) Heikkinen of Lake Linden and Brad (Nikki) Buschell of Escanaba; grandchildren-Chelsey, Levon, Isiah, Kane, Kingston, and Ryan; honorary grandchildren-Drew, Kailyn, and Donovan; 2 great-grandchildren-Lucas and Amelia; sister-Denise (Steve) Ligman; brothers-Don Rider and Darin (Yuko) Rider; sisters-in-law-Gina Rider, Mary Myers, and Sally Hall; brother-in-law-Mike Buschell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The graveside service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate.  Friends and family will gather after the service, at 2:00 P.M. at the Tamarack City Park, for a “Pot-Luck” dinner and time to reminisce. The Peace Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
