Obituary: David G. McAdams

David G. (Humboozie) McAdam, 82, a resident of the Arbor Green Senior Living Community in Houghton passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at UP Health Systems – Marquette Hospital following a short illness.

     He was born on October 23, 1941, in Ann Arbor, MI, a son of the late David and Mildred (Lindala) McAdam.  Dave was raised in Detroit and Hurontown graduating from Houghton High School with the class of 1959.   He then received a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Michigan Technological University.

     David had worked as an accountant for the city of Detroit.  He then moved to California and graduated from Don Martin School of Broadcasting.  Dave returned to Detroit and worked for Detroit General Hospital before returning to the Copper Country.

     On October 23, 1975, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Catherine Curtis.  The couple resided in Hurontown.  In 2012, Mary preceded Dave in death. 

     Locally Dave was a jack of all trades working for various businesses over the years such as Houghton National Bank, Sherwin Williams, Bresnan Communications, WMPL, and helped prepare Tax returns for various people in the community over the years.

     He enjoyed music, especially music from the 50’s, 60’s, and Elvis Presley.  Dave also volunteered at the front desk at Portage Hospital for many years, his keen memory of trivia especially sports will be remembered.  For over 30 years Dave and Mary were very active with the Michigan Tech Blue Line Club opening the doors of their home to many players and player families of the Michigan Tech Hockey Team.  They enjoyed staying connected with many of the alumni from the Hockey program. 

     Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and his two sisters Mary Ann and Debbie.

     Surviving are:

            His nephews and niece: Mike, David and Stacey

            Numerous friends

     As to follow Dave’s wishes to always try and help another person he was able to make a last donation to the Gift of Life Michigan.
