Darlene Odette Nagel, 87, a resident of Hubbell, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, while a resident of Green Tree of Hubbell. She was born July 12, 1935 in Gay, Michigan, daughter of the late Edward and Victoria (Ricard) Fountaine. She attended Gay & Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools.
She and her children moved to Illinois in 1968 where she worked as a nurses aide for 35 years before retiring and moving back to the Copper Country. She was a hard worker and devoted mother who was always there for her boys. In retirement she enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, taking care of her plants, and talking with friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her son Timothy Schmitt, grandsons Christopher Schmitt and Daniel Schmitt, husband Tom Nagel, brother Robert Fountaine, and sister Carol Robarge.
Surviving her are her 3 sons: Gordon (Nancy) Schmitt (Brookfield, IL), Michael Schmitt (Laurium, MI) and Donald (Deb) Schmitt (Calumet, MI); 4 grandchildren: Trevor, Robert, Val, and Karli as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Burial will take place in Lake View Cemetery in the spring.
