Darlene E. Siekas, 98, a resident of Arbor Green in Houghton and former Tapiola resident died at Omega House on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, following a short illness.
Darlene E. Siekas, 98, a resident of Arbor Green in Houghton and former Tapiola resident died at the Omega House on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, following a short illness.
She was born on January 16, 1926, in Atlantic Mine, to Lauri and Sadie Sandberg. She graduated from Jeffers High School in 1943. On November 18, 1944, she married Peter Siekas. They ran a dairy farm in Tapiola for more than 40 years. Darlene was also a cook at the J.A. Doelle School for many years.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edwin and Elmer Sandberg, her husband Peter and her son John, son-in-law Viktor Dolejs three brothers-in-law and their spouses Martin and Katherine Siekas, Norman and Marian Siekas, Reuben and Gladys Siekas, and sister-in-law Leila and Bob Malmstrom, and brother-in-law Harold Hayes, nephews Dennis Siekas and Roger Hayes and niece’s husband Dave Pierce.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Dolejs of Portland, OR; one daughter-in-law, Pauline Siekas of Mill Creek, WA; four grandchildren, Gregory (Lacey) Siekas of Edgewood, WA, Jeremy (Angela) Siekas of Mill Creek, WA, Martina Dolejsova of Portland, OR, and Peter (Lynsey) Dolejs of Cornelius, OR; two great-grandchldren Ethan Siekas and Brooklynn Siekas, one sister, Ingrid Hayes of Lansing, MI. Darlene also wanted to express her love to nephews and nieces Judy Pierce, Mike (LuAnn) Siekas, Kathy (Roger Schiftar) Stringer, Susan (Martyn) Hiscox, Charlie Malmstrom, Bob (Karen) Siekas, David (Sharon) Siekas, Rick (JoAnn) Siekas, Don (Avanell) Siekas, Nancy (Chip) Donahue, Gayle (Mike) Damlo, and Laura Malmstrom.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock with Pastor Brahm Semmler Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery.
