Daniel R. “Boone” Pittsley, age 77, of Baraga, MI passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at UP Health System, Marquette, MI. He was born in Trout Creek, Michigan on February 16, 1942 the son of the late Harvey and Ethel (Brownell) Pittsley. Boone graduated from high school in Trout Creek in 1959. He married the former Sandra “Sandy” Darcy at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Baraga on February 4, 1967. Boone worked for Baraga city as a police officer in the 1960’s. He worked with various other companies over the years and drove truck for DesRochers Logging until his retirement in 2006. He was a fantastic mechanic and would fix anything for anyone in Baraga County. Boone enjoyed tinkering in his garage, hunting, stock car races and watching NASCAR.
Boone is survived by his loving wife Sandy of Baraga, sons Jody (Amy) Pittsley of Baraga, Shane Pittsley of Baraga, Todd Pittsley (Kelly) of Baraga, daughter Zelina Huhta of Baraga, 6 grandchildren, brothers Tom (Sue) Pittsley of Baraga, John (Shelly) Pittsley of Friendship, WI, Jesse (Rosemary) Pittsley of Friendship, WI and Ronald (Rose) Pittsely of Iron River, sisters Linda Robinson of Watersmeet, Cathy Combes of Watersmeet and sister-in-law Gloria Pittsley of Watersmeet. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Shawn Pittsley, brother James Pittsley, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, brother-in-law Francis Darcy and sister-in-law Vicki Mleko.
Funeral services for Boone will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens, Baraga, MI. Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery, Baraga, MI.
