Obituary: Dan Foote

Dan Foote, 79 , a resident of Liminga Road in Houghton passed away unexpectedly at home, on Tuesday October 26, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Dan was truly a gentleman, and a servant to others.

He was born on November 18, 1941, in Big Rapids, Michigan. Son of the late Howard and Cynthia (Ribble) Foote.

Dan graduated from Traverse City High School with the class of 1960.

Upon graduation from High School, Dan attended Michigan State University for Agriculture Science.

He was united in marriage to Connie Anger in 1963 in Traverse City, MI. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage resulting in children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and many happy memories.

Dan spent many years on the road as a long-haul trucker and enjoyed it immensely.

Upon moving to the Upper Peninsula in 1996 Dan and Connie owned and operated Hubbell Haven Adult Foster Care Home until they retired in 2010. The couple spent 16 years caring for others in need of assistance.

Dan was a very involved member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, serving on the board for many years, making many friends, and touching many lives. He was very actively involved in all aspects at Camp Lahti Retreat Center in Rabbit Bay.

Preceding him in death was his daughter Amy Dementer.

Surviving him are his wife Connie, sister Susan (Ken) Butler of Williamsburg, OH. Daughter Kimberly (Troy) Davidson of Blanchard, MI. Grandchildren: Carmen Davidson, Rebekah Stubbs, Elizabeth Davidson, Hannah Dementer and Adam Dementer and four great grandchildren: Dexter Stubbs, Luke Bell, Simon Stubbs, and Samuel Carpenter.

A memorial service will be held on Monday November 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM in Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock with Pastor Jesse Aho to officiate.

Visitation will be at the church from 10-11:00 AM

Arrangements are by the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
