Cynthia A. McLean, 66, a resident of Houghton passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at her home following a short illness.
She was born on January 26, 1957, in Hancock, MI, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (McCarthy) McLean. Cindy was raised in Houghton and was a graduate of Houghton High School with the class of 1975.
Cindy worked at Sears and Roebuck in Houghton for a short time before starting her own family day care. She helped look after her nieces, nephews and children of close friends at her home for many years.
Ms. McLean was a very active member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton. Cindy helped sing in the church choir, count the church offering each week, volunteered with many meals at the church, assisted with reading during Masses and helped to send out sympathy and celebration cards from the church.
Cindy was a lifelong super fan of the Detroit Red Wings and was never prouder than when her niece had worked for the Red Wings. She also was active with the Clubhouse in Hancock for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Kathy, her brother Brian, and her nephew Alex.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Cindy will be held 11 am Friday, May 5, 2023, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
Friends may call on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 10 am until time of services at the church.
Cindy’s family would like to thank Dr. Dewald and the Aspirus Hospital Team and Hospice staff, the Dr. Woltmann and UP Health Systems – Portage Dialysis, along with Cindy’s team at Copper Country Mental Health for all of the care and help given to her over the years.
