Dollar Bay
Craig E. Wilson, 79, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Saturday February 10, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on February 11, 1938, in Lincoln, MI, a son of the late Forrest and Florence (Doriet) Wilson. As a child, he moved with his family to Ontonagon, MI. In 1956, he graduated from Ontonagon High School, where he was a standout athlete playing football, baseball and basketball.
Mr. Wilson was a proud veteran having served with the United States Marine Corp. from 1956-1958.
He attended Soumi College and Northern Michigan University. He then worked as the area rep for ST Sales & Service in Wisconsin.
On July 6, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Carol M. Monticello. In 1970, the couple moved to Dollar Bay where they raised their two daughters. Craig had owned and operated Mr. C’s Health and Beauty Discount Store in Houghton. Following the sale of his business, he held various sale’s and management positions before retiring from PCI in 2000.
Mr. Wilson was an active member in the community. He was a founding member with the Copper Country Veterans Association and a founding member of the Marine Corp League Keweenaw Detachment where he was a former U.P. Zone Commandant from 2001-2002. He also was a former member of the F.O.E. Aerie #382 of Hancock, Copper Country Lodge #135 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites of Free Mason, Houghton Lions Club, and Husky Club. He was very active with the local slow pitch softball league for many years playing for the Monte Carlo team into his 50’s. He also enjoyed playing golf in retirement, watching all sports and traveling.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Bobby, his nephew & niece Kevin & Heidi Koppari and his favorite buddy Scooter.

His sister: Sharon Koppari of Huntley, IL

A prayer service for Craig will be held 11:30 am Saturday February 17, 2018, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday February 17, 2018, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the Copper Country Veterans Association or the Houghton High School Athletic Booster Club in memory of Craig E. Wilson.
