Obituary: Corbin “Corby” Yale Laux

Corbin “Corby” Yale Laux, age 78 of Alston, MI passed away on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 4, 1945 in Hancock, MI son of James and Edna (Sarazan) Laux. He served in the U.S. Army as a Top Gunner on a M60 tank, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam Era. On February 12, 1965 he married the former Helen Jukkala in Houghton, MI. Corby worked for Hocking Construction, then Bacco Construction for 30 years.

Corby was a member of the American Legion Post 444 and Operator Engineers Local 324. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife Helen Laux of Alston; children, Jeffery Laux of L’Anse, Pamela (Eric) Dufek of Alston, Joseph (Latoya) Laux of Quinnesec, MI, David (Catherine) Laux of Alston; brother, James Laux of Alston; sister Virginia (William) Bingham of Houghton; sister-in-law Pat Laux of Dollar Bay; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Edna Laux, son Steven Laux; brothers, Rudy (Doris “Jean”) Laux and Jack Laux; and sister-in-law and Patti Laux.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Alston Cemetery with military rites. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
