Charles L. “Charlie” Peltola, age 80, of L’Anse, MI passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. Charlie was born in Alston, MI on March 29, 1940 the son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Waisanen) Peltola. He graduated from Baraga High School. Charlie married the former Diane Deptro in Marquette, MI on October 26, 1991. He had been employed for 35 years at the former Celotex Corporation, L’Anse and retired in 1997. Charlie was a member of United Methodist Church, L’Anse. He loved to dance and had been showcased on the long running program Finland Calling several times. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors, cooking Finnish foods, singing off key and loved spending time with his grandchildren. For many years in the 1970’s Charlie had coached little league.
Charlie is survived by his wife Diane, children Todd (Sandy) Peltola of L’Anse, Teri (Roger) Faccio of Wisconsin, and Melissa “Missy” (Charlie) Ostermeyer Paulson of L’Anse, several grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, his brother Clifford (Gloria) Peltola of Stoughton, WI, sister Irene Fontenot of Shreveport, LA and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Irma Narhi.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at a later date and will be announced at that time.
