Obituary: Catherine Harrington-Dube

As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:

Catherine Ann Harrington-Dube (Catherine Ann Morris) of Allouez, also lovingly known as “Tinka” since she was a small child, passed away on January 16, 2022 at the age of 80 at Gardenview in Calumet. Catherine was born to William and Patricia Morris (Harrington) on December 26, 1941 in Calumet. Her mother was later married to Donald MacQueen who was a loving father to Catherine and loving grandfather to her children for many years.
She graduated from Calumet High School in 1960 and attended Suomi College for one year. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid skier and golfer. Every summer she could be found on the L’anse Golf Course with her friends and children, often stopping off at the Hilltop Restaurant for coffee and a cinnamon roll on the way home. Like her mother, she was also a great cook. The family would always look forward to her dinners and special weekend meals she would prepare with her mother and mother-in-law.
She had various jobs throughout her life, but one position that gave her great joy was when she mentored young pregnant women. She spent countless hours helping these young women, teaching them to cook, helping with school, and preparing them for motherhood. For those who knew her or saw her regularly, it was obvious she had a passion for fashion. She especially loved her handbags and shoes, and when it was time to shop for new clothes for the new season, she would generously donate many beautiful items to those in need.
Later in life she reunited with her high-school sweetheart, the light of her life, William (Bill) Dube of Allouez; they were married on August 12, 2004. They spent many wonderful years together, traveling and enjoying each other. Bill was by her side through the good times and all her illnesses, and he was right next to her when the Lord called her home.
In addition to her husband, Catherine is also survived by her loving and devoted children and grandchild, all of whom brought much joy to her life: Timothy Patrick Slattery, Calumet; Leah Slattery Kozden and son-in-law Edward T Kozden Jr., who she also considered her son; grandson Jacob Slattery Kozden (all from Breinigsville, PA), who was also the light of her life. She was immensely proud of Jacob’s accomplishments and the good he brought to this world. She is also survived by numerous cousins, loved ones, and the father of her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William “Willey” Morris, beloved Aunt Leona Allaria, Laurium, and other beloved aunts and uncles.
Catherine was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where her funeral mass will be held on January 21, 2022 at 11:00 am by Father Gracious Pulimoottil.
At the request of Catherine, there will be no public visitation. Spring burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Calumet.
Special thanks to the staff at Gardenview and the hospice nurses who helped care for Tinka these last months.
