Obituary: Carolyn Palosaari

On November 1, 2021, Carolyn G. Palosaari got her wings and went to walk with the angels.

Born in Laurium, MI on February 28, 1946. Carolyn was raised in Copper City and attended Copper City School, then attended Calumet High School. She was a homemaker who provided in home childcare for working parents. She spent several years cleaning houses for Community Action, where she made lifelong friendships.

She was united in marriage to Fred Palosaari on April 6, 1963. Together they welcomed Clyde (Kelly) Palosaari, Cindy (Aaron) Aho, Ken (Michelle) Palosaari, Jack Palosaari, Kurt Palosaari and AmySue (Dan) Bailey, all of Calumet. She spent her life loving and caring for her children, grandchildren (Josh, Justine, Jake, Jason, Chris, Jesse, Andrew, and Danielle) and great-grandchildren (Maisy, Hailey, Payton, Brantley, Jacob, Gracie, Mason, Lucas, Kaleb, Makhalid, Felicity, Aubrey, and Briella).

Carolyn enjoyed traveling to several areas like Marquette, Green Bay, and Mackinac Island. She loved camping in Little Betsy with her kids and grandkids and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. She frequently ate at local restaurants. Her favorite places to go with family was the Loading Zone, Slims, and The Hut. She made sure everyone’s birthday was celebrated so that person felt special. Not only did she make a feast on holidays, Sundays were also made a special day for the family to gather.

She is proceeded in death by her Daughter Cindy Aho, son-in-law Dan Bailey, her parents Edwin and Martha Harju, and Brothers Robert, Alan, Dennis, Jimmy, Gary, and Stevie. Survived by her sister Myrna Karpinen, and brothers Norman Harju, Don Harju, and Calvin Harju.

Funeral service will be held Saturday November 6, 2021 at Ryan Funeral Home in Calumet at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held prior to funeral services from 9:30AM – 11:00AM, with Pastor James Mathews officiating.
