Carolyn B. Kuivinen, age 68, of Alston, MI, passed away at her son’s home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
She was born in Calumet, MI on May 19, 1949, the daughter of the late Samuel and Marian (Santti) McClung. Carolyn attended schools in Baraga and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1967. She then attended Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI where she received her secretarial certificate. She married Marshall Kuivinen in Baraga on July 1, 1972. Carolyn had been employed for Gundlach Construction as a secretary and was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Pelkie until she retired due to ill health. Carolyn was a member of the Alston Apostolic Lutheran Church, Alston, MI. She enjoyed sports and had been a hockey mom for many years, reading, watching the weather and history channel, her flowers and had loved her cats.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Marshall Kuivinen, sons Clint (Jennifer) Kuivinen of Alston and Conrad Kuivinen of Alston, grandchildren Jackson, Nissia and Nathan, brother Raymond (Evelyn) McClung of Mass City, mother-in-law Bertha McClung of Alston, brothers and sisters-in-law, several nephews and cousins and many many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Spring graveside services will be held in the Alston Cemetery.
The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
