Calumet – Carole Baranowski age 78, passed away at Canal View Medical Care Facility on Sunday April 19, 2020 where she had been a patient for the past ten months. She was born in Detroit, MI on June 2, 1941, the daughter of Vern and Charlotte Schoolcraft. Carole woked in the First National Bank for over twenty-five years and later the Calumet Township office. She married the love of her life, Jake Baranowski on August 18, 1979 and they resided at his family home in Swedetown for over forty years. They loved to go camping at Sunset Beach in Keweenaw County. Carole was an active member of the community and enjoyed her time with the Calumet Players and Calumet Theater. She won many blue ribbons at the Houghton County Fair for her displays, including Homemaker of the Year. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and kept a beautiful yard and home. She also enjoyed canning vegetables in the fall and spending time with her family, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Carole was preceded in death by her parents Vern a and Charlotte Schoolcraft, her brother John and sister Ginny Tikkanen, her son David Rohlf, her brother-in-law Jerry Baranowski and her nephew Ben Blaksley. Carole will be sadly missed by her husband Jake, her daughter Jenny Rohlf (Mike Bollig), her brother Jim (Elaine) Schoolcraft, her granddaughter Carole White (Ron White), her grandson Jesse Lutz (Becca Lutz) her great-grandchildren Michael Herstrom, Clatyon White, Arianna White, and Isak Lutz. Her brothers and sister-in-law Phil Baranowski (Jayne), Bob and Sharon Baranowski, and Loretta “Dolly” Rowe and nieces and nephews, Lori Schoolcraft (Lucy), Mary Simot (Earl), Tom Schoolcraft (Diane), Kellee Stoll (Jerry), Steve, Scott and Kristen Schoolcraft; Jim, Ted and Rob (Karlen Lee) Blaksley, Danny (Debbe) Jarve, Larry (Debbie) Swetich, and Gary (Judy) Swetich and best friends Julie Kent and Debbie Aubin. She had so many friends throughout the community who will miss her, especially her friends from Calumet Players, and the ladies from the bank. Carole will always be remembered as someone who was kind and helping to all people. She had a beautiful singing voice and is now in Heaven singing with the angels. She will be missed!
