Obituary: Carol Kokko

Carol A. (Gordon) Kokko, 77, a resident of North Grosse Pointe Shores, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Garden View Assisted Living Facility in Calumet where she had been a resident patient.

She was born on August 7, 1944, in Calumet, MI, a daughter of the late Russell and Alice (King) Johnson. Carol was raised in Calumet and was a graduate of the Calumet High School.

Following high school, she moved to the Milwaukee area and worked for Dunn & Bradstreet for a short time.

On September 4, 1967, she was united in marriage to Gordon Kokko. The couple resided in the Milwaukee area for over 25 years while raising their family. IN 2002, they moved in retirement to make their home in North Grosse Pointe Shores.

Mrs. Kokko was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. She was part of the quilting group, assisted with the strawberry socials and coordinated the funeral lunches for many years. She also enjoyed baking, working in her flower garden sewing and spending time with her family.

Her daughters: Kim (John) Hagedorn of Jackson, WI

-Lynn Kokko of Racine, WI

Her grandchildren: Rachel McKay and Chris McKay

Her sister: Donna (Bill) Nelson of Ahmeek

Several niece nephews and cousins

A funeral service for Carol will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. Brahm Sellmer-Smith to officiate. Spring Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 3, 202, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock from 1:00 pm until time of services. Those attending the visitation and or service are requested to follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks.

A complete obituary for Carol will be released at a later time.

The Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service of Hancock is assisting the family with the arrangements.
