Obituary: Carol Joyal

Point Mills

Carol A. Joyal, 81, a resident of Point Mills, passed away Monday March 9, 2020, at home with her family by her side.

She was born on August 13, 1938, in Point Mills, a daughter of the late Sulo and Agnes (Colombe) Lassila. Carol was raised in Point Mills and was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School.

On June 13, 1959, she was united in marriage to the former David Joyal. The couple resided in Point Mills where they raised their family. After 48 years of marriage, David preceded Carol in death on October 18, 2007.

Carol had worked as a Nurse’s Aide for Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell for over 20 years. She then continued to volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy because of her love of the patients.

Carol enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle pointing, making peanut rolls and homemade fudge at Christmas. She also enjoyed Sunday drives with her husband and loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband David, her parents and her sister June.

Her great grandchildren: Nathan, Logan and Jackson
Her brothers: Kenny (Nancy) Lassila of Chassell
James Lassila of Houghton
Betty (William) Cummings of Florida
Several nieces, nephews and cousins

A time to remember Carol and share stories will be held Friday March 13, 2020 from 5 to 7:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
