Carol A. Hiltunen, age 78, of Nisula, Michigan passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Omega House in Houghton, Michigan. She was born in Wilmette, Illinois on June 4, 1940 the daughter of the late Frank and Coletta (Molidor) Beitzel. Carol graduated from Manatee High School in Florida. She married Raymond Hiltunen and they lived in Illinois until moving to Nisula in 1979. Carol owned and operated Carol’s Corner Store in Nisula from 1979 until 1991. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her loving family, children Laurie (Raymond) Kaurala of Nisula , Jeffrey Hiltunen of Illinois and Catherine Hiltunen of Hancock, grandchildren Travis (Amber) Kaurala, Kyle Kaurala, Rayann Kaurala, Danielle (Kyle) Slamans, Megan Hiltunen, Sarah Hiltunen, Alli Joy Churchwell and Bryce Churchwell, great grandchildren Jayden, Kaiden, Kaylynn and Karson, brothers Robert Beitzel of Illinois and Roger Beitzel of Florida. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her son Daniel, brothers Erwin Beitzel, William Beitzel and Ed Beitzel and sisters Mary Kay Airo and Janet Hadaway.
Carol was “A Mother of Many” including Sandy, Larry, Dan and Dennis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and interment will take place in the Nisula Cemetery, Nisula, Michigan.
