Calvin F. Naasko, 92, of Askel passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at PortagePointe in Hancock.
He was born September 10, 1928, in Askel, the youngest of nine children born to John and Anna (Lantto) Naasko. He attended the Askel School for three years and graduated from the John A. Doelle High School in 1947.
Calvin was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force from
1948-52 in Germany and Austria.
Calvin sailed the Great Lakes for several years. He worked for 24 years with the Houghton County Road Commission at the Elo Garage, retiring from there.
On September 26, 1970, he was married to Elizabeth “Liz” (Walstrom) Haapapuro.
She preceded him in death on September 18, 2006.
Calvin was a member of the Tapiola Apostolic Lutheran Church, the Doelle Senior Citizens and Chassell V.F.W. Post 6507.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Liz; five brothers, Paul, John, Wally, Carl, Ed; and three sisters, Alma, Esther and Ida.
He is survived by numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and loving sisters and brothers in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Tapiola Apostolic Lutheran Church with Pastor Ken Storm to officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday in the church. Burial will take place in the Askel Cemetery in the month of May.
